Answer

The ProxySG appliance can be restarted using a software command or by a physical manipulation of the power switch on certain models. If a switch is not available, you can turn off the appliance be removing the power cable(s).

The software command to restart the appliance is available via SSH, Telnet (if enabled), Serial Console, or via Web Management Console.

Refer to KB1819 and KB3178 for more information.

Restart the appliance through the CLI using SSH/Telnet (if enabled) or the Serial Console

There are three methods to restarting the appliance using the CLI:

  • Abrupt (restart abrupt): Forces the appliance to reboot without waiting for any pending processes to clear out. This generates a core if the context or full core is selected.
  • Regular (restart regular): SGOS gracefully clears out all pending transactions. This type of restart is not triggered immediately after the command is executed, as the ProxySG appliance attempts to clear out any pending processes.
  • Upgrade (restart upgrade)Triggers a restart and boot up of the default SGOS image. Refer to KB4393 or the Blue Coat® Systems SGOS Administration Guide for more detail on how to set the default SGOS Image.
