Rate Policy: Packetshaper term. Using TCP Rate Control technology, Packetshaper controls traffic bandwidth on connection flow-by-flow. Rate policy would apply to delay sensitive traffic, such as VoIP or bandwidth-hungry/smooth bursty traffic, such as email. A policy can have a guaranteed minimum rate and/or be burstable at a selected priority level. Also, for User Datagram Protocol (UDP) traffic, a rate policy uses delay-bound scheduling.
