Problem Description

What do the ProxySG built-in exceptions mean?
Is there a list of all the ProxySG built-in exceptions?
How do I know what these exceptions mean?

Resolution

A list of all the built-in exceptions and their meanings can be found in one of two locations.  They are as follows:

1.)  The built-in exceptions list can be found from the command line interface (CLI) by executing the following command:

ProxySG>show exceptions
Built-in:
authentication_failed
authentication_failed_password_expired
.......
unsupported_protocol
virus_detected

If you want to know what a particular exception means, then type in "show exceptions <exception_name>".  Here is an example of what the authentication_failed exception means.

ProxySG>show exceptions authentication_failed
 $(exception.id):
authentication_failed

 $(exception.summary):
Access Denied

 $(exception.details):
Your credentials could not be authenticated: $(quot)$(sc-auth-status)$(quot). You will not be permitted access until your credentials can be verified.

 $(exception.help):
This is typically caused by an incorrect username and/or password, but could also be caused by network problems.

 HTTP $(exception.code):
401

ProxySG>

2.)  The built-in exceptions are also located in the Configuration and Management Guide (CMG).  The CMGs are located at https://bto.bluecoat.com/documentation/pubs/ProxySG .  For links to specific versions of SGOS, please see KB2999.

For SGOS 5.4, the built-in exceptions are located in Volume 6: The Visual Policy Manager and Advanced Policy Tasks; Chapter 4: Advanced Policy Tasks; Section E: Defining Exceptions; Built-in Exceptions.

For SGOS 4.3, the built-in exceptions are located in Chapter 15: Advanced Policy; Section D: Defining Exceptions; Built-in Exceptions in the CMG.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Here is a list of all the built-in exceptions that are in SGOS 5.4.2.2.  The list of built-in exceptions may vary, depending on the version of SGOS you are running.  Please use the "show exceptions" command from the CLI to view the list for your version of SGOS, or refer to the CMG for your version of SGOS.
