Apparent Data Types on ProxyAV may not be able to detect and block files on res.magnus.de

Problem Description

Apparent Data Types on ProxyAV may not be able to detect and block files on res.magnus.de. This happens because files are sent in a gzip-compressed format to the ProxySG. When ICAP trickling is enabled and triggered, ProxySG will start sending traffic to the web browser instead of waiting for ProxyAV to buffer and uncompress it for Apparent Data Type detection.

Resolution

1. Enable ICAP Patience Page on ProxySG. This can be done by going to the Management Console > Configuration > External Services > ICAP Feedback to enable "Return patience page".

2. Disable compression support on ProxySG so that the res.magnus.de will send uncompressed traffic to it. The uncompressed traffic will be sent to the ProxyAV for Apparent Data Type detection.
<Proxy>
 url.host=res.magnus.de action.NoEncoding(yes)

define action NoEncoding
 set(request.header.Accept-Encoding, "none")
end
