Storing and serving ProxySG upgrade images on a Director appliance

Solutions ID:    KB4651
Version:    1.0
Status:    Published

Problem Description

Starting, with SGME 5.5.1.1, Director includes an Apache server configured to listen on port 80. This server is intended for serving up Central Policy files to proxies.

However, it can also be used for storing and serving up ProxySG upgrade images in the event that the proxies do not have direct access to the Internet.

Resolution

To store ProxySG images on Director, the images need to be downloaded to the "/var/www/html" directory on the Director appliance.

The following commands can be used to do so. The last CURL command downloads an SGOS 6.2.4.1 release for a ProxySG 510. You may subtitute the URL and the filename after the "-O" option to suit your needs:

director > en
Password:
director # conf t
director (config) # shell
Releasing the configuration lock.
sh-2.05b# cd /var/www/html
sh-2.05b# curl -k -O sg510-6241.bcsi https://bto.bluecoat.com/download/direct/57665413447552879988670379227222

Alternatively, if you already have the images downloaded to an internal FTP server, the following commands can be used to get the images onto the Director appliance:

sh-2.05b# ftp 10.78.58.68
Connected to 10.78.58.68 (10.78.58.68).
Name (10.78.58.68:admin): admin
331 Password required for admin
Password:
230 Logged on
Remote system type is UNIX.
ftp> bin
200 Type set to I
ftp> get sg510-6241.bcsi

Once the file is downloaded, it will be available at the following URL:

http://<director-ip>/sg510-6241.bcsi

At this point, you can use the above URL on your proxies for fetching the upgrade image.
