How can I troubleshoot compression Xpress tunnel issues?

Problem Description

I have gone though the troubleshooting guide at https://bto.bluecoat.com/packetguide/current/info/tunneltroubleshooting.htm, but am still unable to establish the Xpress tunnel.

Resolution

Make sure the following protocols are enabled between the core and edge PacketShapers.

1) IP protocol 46
2) IP protocol 99
3) TCP port 64600

If the above is verified but the tunnel is still not established, perform the following steps:

  1. Switch to legacy mode on the core and edge PacketShapers and verify if a tunnel forms.
  2. If you don't want to reboot the core PacketShaper, you could still run setup compression xping <PS IP> from the edge PacketShaper.  If the xping target (the core PS) is in enhanced mode, compression (IPComp, IP protocol 108) ) will fail, but RSVP will still work. This would prove that traffic between XIP’s of the PacketShapers can get through the network  and both PacketShapers are working. (In other words, it's not a hardware-related issue.)
