Problem Description

I want to allow users to see all YouTube videos except for a particular one that I want to block..

I referred to the KB articles (FAQ711 & KB3710) that discuss how to allow a single video and tried changing the ALLOW to DENY but it didn't work.

Resolution

This example assumes a default policy action of ALLOW and you want to DENY your users to see this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kioiUPBgOOM

To block the above YouTube video, use the following local policy (or the equivalent VPM policy):

<proxy>
url.substring=kioiUPBgOOM DENY

This policy uses the unique identifier string of the video that follows the v= and blocks that substring from playing, as well as the background YouTube video URLs that are retrieved for the video.

Please DO NOT DENY with these two URLs:

url.domain=//c.youtube.com/ DENY
url.domain=//ytimg.com/ DENY

NOTE: This CPL policy has been tested on both IE8/9 and Firefox11.0, and it appears to be working as expected.
