"Unable to perform email action in the director" error when you try to send email

Problem Description

You set the SMTP server settings in Director's Options panel, but when you try to send an e-mail you get an error:


There are two SMTP settings on the Mail Settings tab of the Options dialog:

  • Local Setting specifies SMTP information for the computer running Director, from which Performance Analysis reports are e-mailed.
  • Director Setting specifies SMTP information for jobs, which are scheduled and executed on Director. Changes to Director Setting are automatically reflected in the scheduled jobs.

To resolve the issue, change the SMTP setting to Local Setting
